A mother and her boyfriend have been arrested by the Sefwi Wiawso police for the alleged murder of a two-year-old girl at Sefwi Akoti in the Wiawso municipality of the Western North Region.
ASP Michael Nkekesi, the Regional Judicial Police confirmed that Simon Akoh, the assemblyman reported to the police that a dead baby had been found in a latrine, naming the mother of the deceased as the suspect.
The police, following through on the complaint, arrested the deceased’s mother, 20-year-old Naomi Ofori.
Naomi claimed she was innocent and blamed the death of the baby on her boyfriend, Kwasia Amoah, after she was interrogated.
According to Naomi, Kwasi Amoah, 34, wanted them to sell her baby but she refused.

She claims the child then went missing for about three days before her body was found in the latrine, and thus, she suspected her boyfriend.

This led to the arrest of Kwasi Amoah to help with the investigation.
The two suspects were remanded in police custody and the child has been deposited at the Sefwi Wiawso morgue for autopsy.
