The 40-year-old woman was walking next to the sea in Southsea, Hampshire, when a man grabbed her from behind and assaulted her.
Hampshire Police are now appealing for witnesses to the attack which happed in a park next to the seafront on the Clarence Esplanade on Monday night.

A 19-year-old male has been arrested on suspicion of rape but has been released under investigation.
The woman is being treated at Queen Alexandra Hospital for a suspected fractured cheekbone.
She also suffered bruising to her face, arms, legs and back.
Her attacker is described as white, heavily built and with facial hair.
Police are appealing for anyone with information about the attack, which took place on Monday 3 August between 9pm and 11.30pm, to come forward.
Acting Detective Inspector Wayne Jackson, said: “We know this area of the park is used widely by residents and it’s a popular walk-through and we would like to appeal to those who were in the vicinity Monday night to get in contact with us.”
